My father spent the 1970s in Nepal as a textile designer, camera always in hand. The photographs he brought back - temples, doorways, carved stone, daily street life in Kathmandu - sat in an archive for decades.
I dug through many hundreds of photos and negatives and selected about 50 of those photos, edited them and created a print-on-demand wall art site with gift shop based prodcts as well. I took a few of those photos and extracted geometric and organic patterns from the architectural details and textile motifs. Those patterns became the product line: ceramic mugs, tote bags, wall art. Each piece is a direct translation of something my father saw and photographed over 50 years ago.
I did everything - Shopify build, branding, product design, pattern creation, site design, art direction for the lifestyle photography, product photography, and the contextual mockups.
It's a commerce site. It's also a preservation project.
