A San Diego based software company in the Sports & Entertainment space required a redesign of their flagship product consisting of a multi-module set of various applications. Broken into 4 modules, the entire suite of applications included a Settings Panel for users and admin, an Asset Tracker that used GPS and custom messaging to track vehicles, a Tournament/Event module that included player rosters, teams, custom 3D map views, and a Food & Beverage ordering and inventory control system.
CHALLENGE
The main challenge was to make the new UI Responsive, more efficient/modern, but not to be a total departure from the current model (as it had a long and satisfied user-base) and very limited research.
SOLUTION
Through an extensive mid-fi wireframing process which explored sublet colorpalette and icon style variations, I arrived at a polished base template which served as the primary view after login. Using this content heavy base template as the structure for all other screens across the 4 modules enabled for an ease of scaling for future templates. In the end I created 55+ screens across 4 modules that eliminated inefficiencies, UI pattern redundancies and dead-ends, reduced the number of screens by 30%, and created a light and open experience that paid homage to the previous application, in an elegant and efficient experience.
